Andrew Blinder, MA, LLP

Andy  Blinder has provided mental health and substance abuse treatment to individuals for over 30 years.  He has been a 20 year certified Addictions Counselor and has had extensive training in gambling addiction.  He provides individual and family therapy  and works with children, adolescents and adults.

Andy is a native Detroiter and earned his Masters Degree in Clinical and Humanistic Psychology, awarded from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology. His undergraduate studies were in Sociology and Anthropology. Anetia Isbell, MA, LPC, NCC

Anetia Isbell is a Professional Counselor and a graduate from Wayne State University with a Masters Degree in Counseling and Community Inclusion.  She is a Certified Advanced Addictions Counselor and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.  Anetia has extensive training and experience providing individual, family and group therapy with children, adolescents and adults.  Her areas of interest and expertise include, but are not limited to:

Mary Kalil, LMSW

Mary Kali earned her Masters in Social Work from Wayne State University in 1997.  She brings 12 years of experience in providing therapeutic services to clients experiencing stress and a variety of life challenges.  Mary specializes in treating many conditions and issues including grief and loss, trauma, school issues, depression, anxiety, adjustment and support. She treats children, adolescents, and adults.

Joan Lazar, MA, LLP, LPC

Joan Lazar received her Masters Degree in Clinical and Educational Psychology from Wayne State University.  She has also obtained three years doctoral level training and coursework, post-masters.

Joan graduated with highest distinction from Wayne State University.  She has received many Academic Honors including a Merit Scholar Award, Award of Merit from the National Deans List, and an Exceptional Accomplishment and Award in Psychology.  She is a member of Psi Chi National Honorary Society in Psychology as well as the Golden Key National Honors Society.

Joan has been providing quality care to adults, children, and adolescents for over 20 years.  She specializes in psychotherapy for depression and mood disorders, anger management, anxiety, phobias, obsessions/compulsions, panic, eating disorders, family and marital relationship problems, and school problems such as ADHD and behavioral problems. Nancy Nester, MA, LPC, NCC

Nancy Nester has been with Pioneer Counseling Centers since 2010.  She provides mental health and substance abuse therapy for adolescents and adults and utilizes individual and group therapy.   Nancy’s specialized focus is to facilitate personal growth and healing for those recovering from trauma.  Additional specialties include:  depression, anxiety, women’s issues,  adjustment disorders, family problems, and adolescent-parenting concerns.

Nancy is a Licensed Professional Counselor who earned her Masters Degree in Counseling from Eastern Michigan University. Her holistic approach incorporates elements of Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Gestalt Techniques, with the goal of working towards a balance of mind, body, and spirit.

Nancy has worked in human services for more than 20 years and in a variety of settings.  She worked in education for 15 years as a Special Education teacher for emotionally impaired adolescents and as a Content Mastery Coordinator.  Nancy has ran a foster home and has worked with traumatic brain injury as the  Program Coordinator of a CARF accredited  substance abuse unit. Nicole Reynolds, MA, LLP

Nicole Reynolds earned her Master of Arts Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology and is currently working on a doctoral degree at the same institution. She works with  adolescents, 15 years and older, and adults, providing individual, couples and family therapy.  Nicole addresses mental health issues,  such  as trauma, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and  relationship problems, as well as  questions pertaining to sexual and gender identity. Her primary areas of interest include post-traumatic stress, spiritual crises, and the use of mindfulness-based strategies to face difficulties.

 

Nicole strives to provide her clients with a safe, supportive, and accepting environment for self-exploration. She believes in a collaborative approach wherein client and therapist join together to understand the sources of pain, fear, and unhappiness and to make changes that will create a more meaningful and fulfilling life. While “symptom relief” is a priority early in treatment, Nicole attempts to get to know the person well enough to guide them into insights regarding the causes of their problems. She uses a strengths-based approach to help individuals, couples, and families strive toward healthier and happier living.

 

Nicole began her career as a psychology research assistant at Wayne State University in 2002. Since then she has gained experience in a variety of  settings. She has facilitated group therapy for individuals convicted of sexual offenses, as well as those in recovery from drugs and alcohol. She has worked with adjudicated youth and families, as well as children in foster care and their care-givers. More recently her focus has been on crisis management and suicide prevention. Dr. Shukla, MD

Dr. Shukla is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry, as well as the subspecialty, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.  He is a member of the Michigan Council of Child Psychiatry and a member of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.  Dr. Shukla completed his psychiatric residency training at Northville Regional Psychiatric Hospital in Northville, Michigan and his Fellowship in Child Psychiatry at Michigan State University, Fairlawn Center.

Dr. Singh, MD

Dr. Singh is board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology and has added qualifications in Geriatric Psychiatry.  Dr. Singh received his medical degree from Rohtak Medical College, India.  He completed his psychiatry residency at Wayne State University and at Lafayette Clinic in 1989.  He has served as the Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Wayne State University and has been involved in  medical student education  and in the supervision of psychiatric residents. Paul Smith,  PhD, Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Smith is a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in serving children, adolescents, adults and older adults.  He provides diagnostic evaluations, specialized testing and psychotherapy to treat a range of problems and concerns, including:

  • Anxiety, stress, and depression-generalized anxiety, panic, OCD, phobias, severe depression, mood disorders

Kara Woodliff, MA, LLP

Kara received her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from University of Detroit Mercy with a concentration in Addiction Studies.  She specializes in assessment/testing cases for children, adolescents, and adults.  She utilizes various procedures which are available to aid in the diagnoses and treatment planning for ADHD, substance abuse, academic, personality, and cognitive impairments.
